First Aid for Schools

This 2-day Emergency First Aid course is aimed at Transition Year/Leaving Cert Applied students who can obtain the basic skills needed for First Aid and to use these skills if called upon during their everyday life or potential work experience.

Who is it for?

School based Transition Year students (Year 4) or Leaving Cert Applied students

Duration

2 days (school hours). We will facilitate timings based on class timetable.

Course Content

  1. Introduction to First Aid

  2. Accident Management and Patient Assessment including Recovery Position

  3. Respiratory Emergencies (Asthma)

  4. Cardiac First Response-CPR (AED introduction)

  5. Wounds, Bleeding & Shock

  6. Altered Levels of Consciousness (Head injuries, Concussion)

  7. Musculoskeletal Injuries (Sprains, Strains, Fractures & Dislocations)

  8. Burns & Scalds, Chemicals, Poisons and Electric Shock

Method of Delivery

The course is facilitated by an instructor who will use PowerPoint presentation and practical sessions to guide you through the course.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be issued with a certificate for Emergency First Aid from Vital Obs Donegal.

Certificate valid for 2 years.
